Amidst the dynamic landscape of Philippine mountain biking, anticipation is building for the upcoming Harvey’s National Downhill Series 2024– with its first leg happening this weekend at the One Cavite Downhill Alliance track. This eagerly awaited event isn’t solely about racing; it’s a convergence of riders, a showcase of local talent, and a catalyst for the advancement of Philippine mountain biking on the global stage. The latter being the main driving force of the Harvey’s team, “this is for the future of Philippines MTB, not for us,” race organizer and Harvey’s partner Joaquin Redilla aka Pis Wakin tells us. “We want them to experience bigger things and then hopefully, global things.”

Despite the obvious competitiveness of racing, at the epicenter of the Harvey’s National Downhill Series lies a fervent and unshakable dedication to camaraderie. It’s more than a mere race; it’s a collection of enthusiasts bound by their love for the sport and their shared aspiration to see it flourish, to see everyone win. Pis tells us that it’s “…through shared experiences on the trails and moments of triumph and even failure,” that the series endeavors to forge enduring bonds and mutual respect among riders from diverse backgrounds, across the Philippines.
