4X racing, also known as Four Cross racing, is a mountain bike racing discipline that involves four riders competing simultaneously on a downhill course filled with jumps, berms, and obstacles (CHAOS!). It’s most def a fast-paced and adrenaline-filled event where riders navigate through a series of lanes, aiming to be the first to cross the finish line.

The courses typically feature technical sections, tight turns, and occasional contact between riders, adding an element of strategy and excitement. 4X racing requires a combination of speed, skill, agility, and tactics, making it a thrilling spectator sport. Gone for a bit and made longer by the global pandemic, 4X is BACK at Bongabon Bike Park and it’s gonna be a wild, wild time.

Here are the 8 things to know if you’re racing this weekend in Nueva Ecija.

1. Each rider gets one timed qualifying run to determine their start list order for the main event.
2. Race numbers are assigned based on qualifying, the fastest rider receiving number 1 and so on.
3. Riders are grouped into heats, with four riders in each heat.
4. Riders choose their starting positions within their heat based on their number plates.
5. The top two riders from each heat advance to the Winner’s Round.
6. The remaining two riders from each heat advance to the Playoff Round.
7. If no riders cross the finish, the winner is the rider who covers the greatest distance.
8. A full-face helmet is mandatory for all riders throughout the racecourse.

There’s more of course, but you can visit the bike park’s Facebook Page for details, make sure to register for the race, get your gear all ready, and we’ll see you all this weekend.
