Bathala Bike Park is a wonderful surprise. When we first heard about it, it sounded like its name: a myth, a legend. A DH track, beside an Enduro track, that ends up in a pumptrack, beside a dual-slalom course right beside some dirt jumps? It sounded too good to be true, and well, it was for a while. Bathala Bike Park, according to its owner, is all about timing — like almost everything else.
Bathala Bike Park originally opened in 2011, offering rides that no one in this country had every experienced before. “We finally decided to make a bike park, since we had a few hectares in Tanay (Rizal),” Nick Jonsay, Bathala’s owner and operator shares with us, “but it wasn’t successful at that time, the community was too young still.” After a few events there, Nick tells us that they all decided to put it on a “hiatus” first, for people to catch on to the idea of what a “Bike Park” is; when they finally decided to open it all up again: the COVID pandemic had other ideas. “Well, there were talks of re-opening it but the lockdowns made it impossible to.”
OPENING (AGAIN) WITH A BANG
Fast foward to 2023, with (hopefully) the whole pandemic behind us, Bathala Bike Park re-opens its gates to a bigger, more vibrant biking community that has seen its fair share of races and events so naturally, Nick tells us that the best way to do the re-opening is with a festival.

Enter THE BATHALA BIKE FESTIVAL 2023, a partnership with Benny Cordoviz and his team, under the banner FILSPRK Marketing Corporation, Benny tells us that “we were inspired by what UCI and other international festivals do like Sea Otter, and even if we don’t hit those levels right away — at least we start it. Those festivals showcase the communities, the brands, and of course the bikes!” Benny continues to tell us that the whole point, the whole goal is “to inspire other groups to do things too, to support each other and build together.”
WHAT TO EXPECT
With the festival just a week a way this weekend, it’s definitely going to be a one-of-a-kind experience that hopefully brings everyone together, you’ve got so many events and a lot of prizes for the two-day festival:
