If your looking for top brands like Pivot and Moots, high-end components from Industry Nine to Chris King to DVO Suspension, well then, Bike Town Cyclery in Makati is exactly where you need to be.
Already a go-to shop BEFORE the pandemic, things really stepped up during, despite all the lockdowns and shipping challenges. Riding the wave of new and returning cyclists, Bike Town is one of the city’s top places to get everything done right, and then do some shopping too.

WHAT YOU “WANT” RIGHT NOW
Owned and run by outdoors-enthusiast and biking advocate Goyo Larrazabal, Bike Town Cyclery, or BTC, is chock-full of drool-worthy upgrades for bikers of any skill level. From the already mentioned brands to accessories and tools like frame guards All Mountain Style and Dyed Bro, Park Tools and Pedro’s Bike Care, all the way to lights, bells, and whistles (bling kits, but we digress).
BTC carries a majority of the best MTB brands out there and stocks do run out, with riders coming back for more, repeatedly with every re-stock.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY NEED
What’s great about BTC, besides all the stuff they sell there, is the staff. Well-trained, really nice, and best of all ACTUAL riders. Almost half of their team are sponsored racers that are pretty locked-in with the biking community. This is an advantage for not only the store, but for us who go there as well. The staff never fail to share their experience, tips, and tricks with anyone who comes in, guiding even this writer in many a riding journey. They have all the usual services, from Bike Wash to wheel truing, setup, overhaul, you name it.

During the pandemic, a lot of bike shop horror stories have come out and even gone viral in the hundreds of bike groups online. BTC however, is definitely a safe haven for aspiring riders and veteran saddle-heads, a space where you can learn more about things or even add to what you already have.
UPGRADITIS AND UNDERSTANDING PROGRESS
With unbridled access to YouTube and all the awesome content creators with their awesome bikes like Bernard Kerr and Pivot, Greg THE GOAT Minaar and Santa Cruz, even Matt Jones with Marin, it’s easy to get lost in the “sickness” we love to call “UPGRADITIS”. Facebook Marketplace and e-commerce has made it easier to buy and get what (we think) we need, but nothing beats an actual store, with people to help you figure out things.

Bike Town has been around way before the pandemic happened, and we’re pretty sure it’ll be around way after. Shops like these live and die off of the support of the communities that surround it, we should continue to be behind local businesses, whatever they are, especially when they empower the people who patronize it.
